The power and beauty of the work of teamlab…modcon has long been a fan of this immersive work. Blurring boundaries between technology and nature, spatial and dimensional and all the time playing beautifully with our perception and our spatial awareness. Magical.

Lewis Pugh is a ocean swimmer and advocate. He swims to awaken us to the realities of the our planet’s water that in danger. Whether in the North Pole or the river thames.
He is best known for undertaking the first swim across the North Pole in 2007 to highlight the melting of the Arctic sea ice. In 2010 he swam across a glacial lake on Mount Everest to draw attention to the melting of the glaciers in the Himalayas, and the impact the reduced water supply will have on world peace. And in 2014 he became the first person to complete a long distance swim in all the Seven Seas, a campaign he undertook to urge surrounding nations to create more Marine Protected Areas.
His approach is graceful but his message is powerful.
Many talk about the rise and rise of consciousness in the
world today and this can be a huge undertaking to understand or even to engage with. Teacher, author, poet and peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh has been making consciousness so simple for us to understand.
Recently he has suffered a major stroke and has been in recovery for the last 4 months. His teachings however continue to grow through his community and huge global following.
His Dharma or teachings translate for us the mystery of consciousness,
so that we may feel good, happy and alive. Simple. Yet under all of the lightness, the
mastery of his teachings continues to awaken us on a deep level. Awakening us into the
discipline of living a mindful and compassionate life. This is a big ask for any of us.
For Thich Nhat Hanh, mindfulness is “the energy of being
aware and awake to the present moment. It is the continuous practice of
touching life deeply in every moment of daily life. To be mindful is to be
truly alive, present and at one with those around you and with what you are
doing.” And so through living mindfully, we embrace inner and global peace.
Thay (teacher), as he is affectionately known, is one of the
greatest living examples of Zen in the modern world. Active on Oprah, Twitter,
you might find him in the offices of Google or Facebook or running retreats
from his home, the celebrated Plum Village in rural France –
a monastery for monks and nuns in a Buddhist practice centre for lay people
where thousands gather every year to learn from his wisdom. He delivers the true
modern conscious message and continues to inspire us.
A film about a Buddhist community whose search for happiness
takes them on the road with Thich Nhat Hanh is being released in 2015. We will
be talking with Film Director and Producer Marc J. Francis, one of the creators
of ‘Walk With Me – On The Road With Thich Nhat Hanh’, later this
year, so stay tuned.
is possible that the next Buddha will not take the form of an individual. The
next Buddha may take the form of a community – a community practicing
understanding and loving kindness, a community practicing mindful
living. This may be the most important thing we can do for the survival of
the Earth.” – Thich
This is a beautiful piece by Hollywood actor Jim Carrey. Listen well. He means it.
A comedian turned conscious maker.
A true modcon icon, David Lynch has modernised the conscious world through his daring creativity, dark seduction and expansive enduring stillness in his work. His art always blurs the lines of fantasy and reality. He’s the personification of cool in every great sense of the world.
And he is a meditator.
Right back to my days watching twin peaks, I was transformed into a world where I was so gripped and fully immersed in Lynch’s world. My mind would wander in the surreal ambience, senses awakened, you knew that Lynch was a man set on getting into our heads.
David is a well known advocate of TM, transcendental meditation (link). Meditation in its non-dual capacity is the most real and surreal experience we could have. And so its almost not surprising that he is a meditator.
The David Lynch Foundation is for me, one of the most fascinating and interesting out there. A foundation for consciousness-based education and world peace.
It was established in 2005 to fund the implementation of scientifically proven stress-reducing modalities, including the Transcendental Meditation program, for at-risk populations such as underserved inner-city students; veterans with PTSD and their families; women and children who are survivors of violence and abuse; American Indians suffering from diabetes, cardiovascular disease and high suicide rates; homeless men participating in reentry programs who are striving to overcome addictions; and incarcerated juveniles and adults.
He will celebrate the 10 year anniversary on April 1st with a show at the Ace Hotel featuring some of the worlds greatest musicians in one room.
I first met Li in Lisbon
in 2002 when we shared the stage presenting our seminars about future global
trends. I was struck by her wisdom, her intellect and her presence, and from
then her world intrigued and inspired me.
Li is the shaman of
futurism, she often called herself a transmitter of future concepts in our
life. Often her creations were presented in her trends bibles with such
artistry that we could only be intuitively guided by it, exactly her intention.
Although her work serves the fashion and textile industries her sensibility
belongs to the industry of behaviour.
I remember her talking in
2000 about how all of our products would become more and more flat and how
coffee shops would be taking over the world. Now I read about her on my iPad
sipping a fine Colombian blend from the local hipster café!
What really struck me was
her commitment to a love of our planet and man’s creations on it. She is an
original pioneer of sustainability, having created a clothing line called ‘heartwear’
in 1993 – “a non-profit organisation that collaborates with
artisans by helping them produce their products on a larger scale, without
compromising their know-how, skills, culture or the environment they live and
Like many shamans of
modern times, when people are baffled by their methods and medicines today they

Modernconscious inspiration from a 13 year old Master of Happiness and Health, Logan LaPlante.
You did it.
You raised the vibration in every cell of your body to awaken your greatness. We felt your passion and purpose for our world
and were gripped, inspired, touched, moved by it.
Your feats are greater than most, yet you personified such humility that we are now
able to know how to touch and embody our true potential so that we might stand
You are a true leader of the modern conscious generation.
As a warrior of the heart, your legacy lives on in every one of us who dares to listen
to our own unique wisdom and truth so that we may speak out and step up.
Now every time we look at your image, we will find a way into connection with this
wisdom and truth.
You never lost sight of the inner landscape through the deepest darkest moments of
your life. This is meditation lighting up the darkest corners. When you came
out of a life of chains, you showed the world how compassion and acceptance unlocks
suffering within the structures of man’s self-created imprisonment.
You had work to do. It was real, gritty, brilliant work. And you did it.
From all of us.
Mistress of Stillness
I owe much of this site to my teacher, artist, sage and dear friend Gabrielle
A star of modernconscious life, she mastered the intimate relationship
between inner journey and global creative action. Whilst many of her peers were
journeying to the east to find Buddha, Tao and Yoga in the 1960s, her journey
was through a ‘billion miles of unexplored territory from the head to the
feet’. And by surrendering to the mastery of rhythm and beats, she entered into
the realm of deep stillness and created her most prolific work. Movement and
meditation were her alchemy.
“If you put the psyche in motion it will heal itself”, she wrote in her first book ‘Maps to Ecstasy’ which
explained her own body of work, ‘the 5Rhythms’, often described by her as a healing arts practice. Gabrielle was a Zen master,
shamanic artist and rock star shapeshifter. When she entered the room you could
feel her alert presence in seconds, always head to toe in the high priestess of
fashion Anne Demeulemeester.
The edge was her centre and in there she glowed and smiled kindly.
She will become more and more revered for her powerful words in our world as we
continue to explore how to embrace and embody the paradoxes of our internal and
external worlds of conflict, chaos and disorder with the bloom of global
